Dr. Nelson was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She came to Texas in 1993, finished high school, and graduated from Texas A&M University. She got her doctorate at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.

Since graduation, she has worked in emergency medicine, exotics practice, and mixed/general practice. Her medical interests include exotic animal medicine, surgery, dermatology, and behavior medicine.

Her hobbies include dancing, hiking, drawing, and spending time outside with her three dogs, Hendrix, Rue, and Ozzy; her cat, Kyo; and her daughter, Emmy. Dr. Nelson can't wait to meet your baby, be it furry, feathered, or scaled.
